The Korea Packaging Association was selected in 2002 as the lead organization for the Packaging Human Resources Development Project, part of the Industrial Technology Infrastructure Building Project initiated by the government (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy). Over three years, the project was fully funded by the national government, resulting in the development of 14 training curricula and educational materials for packaging professionals in Korea.
Building on this initiative, the Association launched the Packaging Technology Manager Correspondence Course — a comprehensive packaging education program developed through the project. Since its first cohort of 138 graduates in 2003, the program has produced a total of 3,924 Packaging Technology Managers to date (as of the 44th cohort in 2025).
The Packaging Technology Manager Correspondence Course holds the distinction of being the first program of its kind in Korea to be led by a private packaging organization. Its significance lies in expanding the base of specialized packaging professionals through industry-academia collaboration, contributing to the advancement of the domestic packaging industry.
